15-year-old girl, Aisha Abubakar, who was reported missing in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State, has been found dead in a bush on the outskirts of her village.

Aisha reportedly went missing on Monday, January 26, 2026, after she was sent by her parents to buy soya beans at about 5:40 p.m. When she failed to return home, her family and community members began searching for her.

Her body was discovered the following day, Tuesday, January 27, triggering shock and mourning within the community.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Gombe State Police Command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the case is being treated as culpable homicide and that investigations have commenced.

According to the police, preliminary observations indicated signs of violence. The body was evacuated to a hospital for medical examination, in line with standard security procedures.

“We received a report of a culpable homicide incident from the victim’s father, Malam Abubakar. The victim was sent on an errand on January 26 but did not return home. Her body was unfortunately discovered the next day in a bush on the outskirts of the village,” the police spokesperson said.

The police assured the public that efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible. Residents were urged to cooperate with investigators and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
