1- The Almajiri system only succeeds in breeding poverty and societal nuisance. It enforces hopelessness and robs innocent children of a shot at a bright future.
2- The Northern child deserves better. He deserves access to quality education to help secure a great future. Begging should NOT be his portion.
3- The Almajiri system is archaic and adds no value to societal development. It has lost its relevance and only serves as a means for exploitation.
4- The Almajiri system provides a ready pool of recruits by extremist groups such as BH. 80% of the group members are almajiris.
5- The system is a testament of the massive failure of the region’s leadership in harnessing the available man power bequeathed to it by nature.
6- It is our collective duty to ensure that our children get the life they deserve. We must secure the future. We must speak out against this practice.
7- Day-in Day-out, lives of underage children are lost and exposed to dangers on our streets. The Almajiri system enables this.
8- We are only as strong as our weakest link. The almajiri system only stunts our growth as a region. Quality education remains key.
9- The system has outlived its usefulness. It only succeeds in churning out beggars and criminals. It should be scrapped.
10- Maitatsine, Boko haram sects etc. Are by products of the system. It continues to pose a grave danger to our societies.
We either banish it, or it banishes us.
